How Many Sues? - Block of the Month

Yvonne had lots of fun creating this wall hanging of Sunbonnet Sues or maybe you see them as Holly Hobby’s. Some are skipping, some have kites others have  bouquets of flowers. They have colourful dresses or aprons or even pleated skirts. Each month there are a variety of techniques used to create the panels.

The applique and embroidery are all worked on a variety of white on white backgrounds. There is hand embroidery, piecing, folded patchwork and machine appliqué.

There are 31 panels, blocks and embroideries in the body of the wall-hanging with a total of 28 Sues and lots of butterflies. The border includes prairie points for a splash of colour on the white on white border fabric. 

Each month you will receive all the fabrics, full size template sheet, full size layout diagrams and detailed instructions to make part of the project, for nine months you will make three different panels, and in Month 10 it’s about the assembly, borders and binding.

The programme runs for 10 months and the cost includes full instructions, with full size templates and pattern layouts, some threads and all the fabrics for the blocks, borders and binding.

This project will also be available to buy as a one off purchase in the near future.

We can supply a backing fabric and wadding pack at additional cost, see the variant. Ivory with pink heart fabric as we used on the back of our sample and Hobbs Heirloom 80/20 wadding. That’s 80% cotton and 20% polyester. There is 1.5 metres of fabric and 1.5 metres of wadding in the bundle.
