Meet Yvonne and Helen

Village Fabrics is a family-run shop, run by Yvonne and her daughter Helen. The shop opened in Wallingford in 1981. Yvonne took it over in 2002, and in April 2024 we moved to our new home at Stockwood Business Park, near Inkberrow.

We design our own kits and patterns and make the kits up by hand here in the shop. We are always happy to help with whatever you have on the go: bring your project, and its instructions, if you would like help choosing or matching fabric.

Good to know

  • You may have seen us on Craft Unlimited and Sewing Street.
  • Can't get here? Our kits, patterns and much of our fabric are online, with free UK delivery on orders over £50.
  • Gift vouchers are available in the shop and online.
  • Sewing machine servicing and repairs. Bring your machine to the shop and our friends at Parrs Sewing Machines will collect it from us. Once it is done, they bring it back to the shop or deliver it straight to you. Parrs: 01684 563106.

Classes in our studio

Our classes run in small groups in the studio at the shop, and every student has their own workstation. Tea and coffee are on all day (please bring your own cup), and parking is free outside.

A class makes a lovely present: ask us for a gift voucher for the value of a class.

The Pantry, our neighbours at Stockwood

Our neighbours on the business park are The Pantry at Rush Farm, a café and farm shop in a converted stable with exposed brick and wooden beams. Stop for a coffee and a slice of cake, a breakfast roll or a simple seasonal lunch made with local produce. The café is dog friendly, and if you are coming for lunch as a group of more than four, it is worth booking ahead.

The farm shop sells Rush Farm's own organic beef and lamb, organic pork and chicken, seasonal fruit and vegetables, eggs, bread, fresh milk from Wild Cow Dairy and freshly milled local flour, so you can do a bit of shopping while you are here. We also work with The Pantry, so a class in our studio can be catered from their kitchen.

The Pantry is open Wednesday to Saturday from 8.30am. Full opening times are on the Rush Farm website.
