When I meet Susan, the owner of Hygerhangout Quilt Fabrics and More, last September she asked me to give a talk and teach a class at her shop. So when I decided to go to QuiltCon in Nashville it seemed as though the opportunity was too good to miss.
What a thrill to teach a class in the US. I was a little worried about the language barrier, but all went well.
Nine ladies set about creating the Amber Dragonflies wall-hanging with the addition of a small Sashiko panel of stitching on it. The Sashiko was an addition after my “Trunk Show”, Show and Tell really to us, when they became interested after seeing my Geishas quilt. There was a full house for my talk, twenty one people including a couple of guys.
Here are a couple of workshop pictures.
As always the variety of designs that emerged was great and one lady nearly finished her wall-hanging.
We all had a good day and some of us even stayed for their once a month Quilt till You Wilt session. It is a pot luck supper and starting at 5pm you quilt til you wilt, we stayed until 8pm not bad after a 9.30 am start! Great fun to sit, stitch and share experiences with such lovely friendly ladies.
