Yet another manhole cover just right for an applique design this one is from Miyajima. The ones in Nara, where the deer wander around freely (and you have to watch any food and loose straps!) have dates on them.
The shop keepers hang banners like this outside their shops to indicate that they are open. I just thought what a lovely design when Rose spotted it. I now also have the whole group looking at the ground for more interesting manhole covers, watch this space!
At last!!! As you can see from the picture there are little patches of blossom starting to appear! We then walked around the Nishiki market, this is Kyoto's kitchen, what a feast for the eye and a rumbly tummy!
We walked through the older part of Kyoto this evening. This is the front of one of the restaurants. Beautiful mimosa bush, the whole grouping of lantern, bush and scroll is so pleasing and the splashes of colour! Then on to the saki bar...........
Just walking towards a bamboo grove when I saw this had to take a picture. It is a manhole cover in Arashiyama! I feel some appliqué coming on....! Then we went down the Hozu-gawa river in a wooden boat with three men rowing. The banks of cedar trees were amazing. No blossom just yet.
